George Krause

George M. Krause, 71, of Long Beach Island and formerly Delran, passed away on January 7, 2019. He was the beloved son of the late George L. Krause and Catherine D. Krause (Miller).
George was the beloved husband of Lynne, loving father to Michael (Jennifer) and Amanda, and step-father to Abbie McAleer (Tim). He was predeceased by daughter Kimberly and son Geoffrey. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Brooke, Ryan, Gavin, Alexis, Olivia, Brennan and Benjamin; sister Barbara Horneff; and several nieces and nephews.
George was a graduate of Holy Cross High School and LaSalle University. He became a Certified Public Accountant and worked for Deloitte, Haskins and Sells until 1982 when he was appointed Chief Financial Officer of the New Jersey Department of Labor. He continued to serve in that capacity under eight administrations until retiring in 2011. George also was a proud member of the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials Camden District Board 34 and officiated high school basketball games in Burlington, Camden and Gloucester counties for over 20 years.
He enjoyed visiting Florida, playing golf, doing crossword puzzles, and was an avid Eagles fan.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Thos. L. Shinn Funeral Home in Manahawkin, New Jersey. Calling hours will be from 11:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. with a funeral home service at 1:00pm on Sunday, January 13, 2019. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
